Understanding Your Bill

Your electricity is one of the few commodities that consumers use first and pay for later. The electric bill is for usage during the previous month.

The charges on your electric bill are:

  • Energy - Electric usage measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh)
  • Customer Charge - The minimum monthly amount regardless of usage
  • Purchased Power Cost Adjustment - A charge or credit amount based on wholesale power cost.
  • Taxes - Funds collected and passed through on behalf of local governments.

Electric bills are:

  • Due within approximately 21 days of the billing date; and
  • Considered delinquent and subject to disconnection after the due date.

Please contact Citizens Electric prior to the due date of the bill if you are having difficulty paying your bill as required.

Heating and Cooling Degree-Days :

The heating and cooling degree-day analysis is a way to understand why your electric usage fluctuates from month to month.

Preferred Due Date

Members who are disabled, retired or receive Social Security payments may have their billing cycles changed to the 10th of the month.
