Citizens Electric Announces Planned Outage in Bloomsdale Area as Part of Reliability Improvements
Citizens Electric Corporation (CEC) is notifying members in the Bloomsdale area of a planned power outage to allow for essential maintenance and equipment upgrades. The work is being performed to strengthen the system and help prevent longer, unexpected outages in the future.
Planned outage date: October 11, 2025
Approximate outage start time: 12:05 AM
Approximate end time: 8:00 AM
The outage is necessary as the Bloomsdale area is currently served by a single transmission line. To address this limitation, Citizens Electric is advancing the Salem Bulk to Valley View Project, which will add a second transmission source to the region. Once complete, this “networked” system will improve reliability, provide flexibility for maintenance, and allow for faster restoration during outages.
“While no system improvement can prevent all outages, this project is a major step toward reducing disruptions for our members,” said VP of Operations Curt Iffert. “We appreciate our members’ patience as we make these long-term investments in our community’s electric system.”
