Three Incumbents Re-elected at Annual Shareholders Meeting
Citizens Electric Corporation hosted its Annual Meeting on June 19, 2025. Members were invited to attend the meeting in person at its headquarters in Perryville. Members and guests participated in this year’s meeting, which included a recap highlighting accomplishments over the last year, the 2024 annual financial report, and the certification of the 2025 Director Election.
Voting in the Director Election was conducted via mail-in, in-person, and electronic balloting. Citizens Electric introduced electronic balloting in 2020 to provide members with a fast, secure, and convenient way to submit ballots and avoid delays in mail handling. North District incumbent, Glen Weible will retain his seat. Doyle Oehl will retain his seat in the South District. In the Central District, Derek Miesner retained his seat in this year’s election.
Bill Odneal, Citizens Electric’s Board Chairman, summarized the cooperative’s performance in 2024. “We continued our commitment to providing reliable service in 2024 with the completion of a major transmission project which established a new high-voltage transmission source into Citizens Electric’s service territory,” said Odneal. 2024 also marked a year of transition for Citizens Electric as the organization collaborated with Wabash Valley to reach productive settlement discussions and a resolution benefiting both organizations. “While Citizens will no longer participate as a member of Wabash Valley after June 1, 2025, the parties will continue to engage with one another to identify collaborative opportunities to increase reliability and decrease costs for the benefit of member ratepayers.”
